The complex of Monterosso in Acqui Terme, ’ is the only example in Italy of close collaboration between architects, painters, sculptors and patrons to give life to the creation of a Manor House characterized by important works d art ’.
In the 1920 Ottolenghi accounts, Arturo and Herta von Wedekind zu Horst, entrusted the design of Villa Ottolenghi, Frederick d ’ first Loved and then to the famous architect Marcello Piacentini. The patronage of Ottolenghi led to Monterosso, a good number of artists: Ferruccio Ferrazzi, Fortunato Depero, Adolfo Wildt, Libero Andreotti, Flower Hammers, Arturo Martini, Rosario Murabito, Venanzo Crocetti and Ferruccio Ferrazzi. It was at Villa Ottolenghi that Arturo Martini and produced some of his most important works including “The Tobias, Adam and Eve, the Lions of Monterosso…”. The death of Auditors, He is the son Aistulf which is committed to the completion of the villa with the Park ad opera di Pietro Porcinai.
Not far from the villa mausoleum, today “Herta Temple”, and the Park, proceeds from a precise drawing scenery which is called “Earthly Paradise”. The huge temple's portal ’, bronze medals, nickel and copper engraved, monumental work of Ernesto and Mario Ferrari, acts as a prelude to the beauty of the frescoes by Ferruccio Ferrazzi, and mosaics made from mosaic of Ravenna school.
And then around the formal garden villa, the pit, studies, the Cisternone and promenade that runs along the perimeter of the complex, Graffiti, the Wisteria Pergola, the swimming pool, la Cantina… are stages of a journey of discovery that surprises for attention to detail and here and there are wrought iron masterpieces as: mushrooms, turtles, nestlings, snails… Swivel chairs and marble everything emerge the impressive sculptures by Herta.
The visit of the Villa includes the Park, artists ' studios, where is the tasting room, the cellars, the indoor pools and ends with a nice walk among the vines to reach the Temple of Herta, a masterpiece of modern architecture ’.
