The Parco Naturale di Rocchetta Tanaro is a small protected area (just 120 hectares) near the river Tanaro.

The “Park House” has classroom and Office information. The CSPS perform cooperative guides guided tours on reservation. There is a riding path, an educational nature trail, the cycle path that unravels from the asphalt road linking the towns of Mombercelli and Rocchetta Tanaro, at the eastern end of Rio Ronsinaggio, where we come across in the rest area facilities, to end on the edge of the Park, encountering the source “Cana”, a source of ferruginous water always fresh and current. From the Park you can enjoy a beautiful picture of the village of Rocchetta Tanaro: foreshortening is an angle of castello dei Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta. The same area of the Park was part of the fiefdom of the Marquis and is known today as local toponymy “The Marcheis bosch”.

The other characteristic presence of the Rocchetta territory consists of the river Tanaro, that has always been an essential element in the daily lives of the population of the area.

Significant is the presence of "great beech" (says "beech Emilio") Val du Gè (Frost Valley), centuries of specimen height exceeding 25 metres and a diameter of Crown around 20 meters that grows at the minimum elevation for Piedmont (130 m s. l.m.), It is a reminder of the beechwoods spread across the area at the end of the last glacial period.

Part of the area of the Park is represented by the bosco: a mixed Oak Grove where the dominant species are the oak and the ash trees, together with the oak and Turkey oak. Significant anthropogenic activities chestnut and Acacia are used as firewood and fence and, especially in the past, for the palature delle vigne. The light and airy structure of oak foliage allows light to reach the ground, allowing the development of a large number of tree species and tree peonies. Il querceto oak-dominated is characterized by the presence of the manna-ash, of ciavardello, of medlar, Hawthorn and honeysuckle; in farneto is easy to meet the core next to wild lime, the white hornbeam, at Maple, While in the vicinity of the canals they grow abundant White Poplar and Black Alder. The forest also provides shelter for many wildlife species: among the mammals are the most common are boar, the Fox, the squirrel, il riccio, the weasel, the Dormouse and the rate, chosen as the symbol of the Park. Particularly rich bird life is represented by some 40 breeding species including include: the rare lesser spotted Woodpecker, the Nuthatch, mountain-bike, the Green Warbler, the Heron, the noisy Jays and various diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey.

In this park you will find the The memory Orchard,a site dedicated to biodiversity to retrieve, mainly for demonstration purposes and for purposes of environmental and food education, old cultivars of apples now almost disappeared in Asti. Sixty-four the saplings planted and belonging to eight different varieties: Carlo Bianco, Ciucarin-bianca, Calvin, Gamba fina, Piedmont Grey, Piatlin, Pom Marcon, Ruscai-o.

Visitor access to the Park is permitted from dawn to dusk on foot or on trails. Throughout the territory of the Park is forbidden to perform off-road motorized transport activities. Groups,schoolchildren and groups (However allowed) may carry out visits to the Park, not greater than the number 30 people, only if accompanied by the staff of the institution, just advance booking.
