Vinchio, his land, its people – Outdoor farmer's Museum

Literary route Davide Lajolo “The jugs of Babar"the Outdoor farmer's Museum "Vinchio and the hills of Baba" illustrates the cycle of work in the vineyards, by integrating the environmental heritage, culture, food historian and present on the territory and allowing a continual cross-reference between literature and civilization.

Museum installations are located outdoors in the countryside as it considers the entire hilly landscape a living museum and productive, that should be enjoyed in its environmental beauty, in the traces of history and peasant memory, in a symbolic evocation of literature.

The museum tour is marked according to the seasons of peasant work identified with message boards and installations that explain through pictures and texts of traditional jobs of viticulture and winemaking, easily accessible from the tourist on a route on the territory.

The path that connects the three areas develops in part on paved roads and partly on dirt and is passable on foot, by bicycle, riding (and possibly even drive).

The sections

The agricultural year, during which the farmer's life is characterized by hard work in the countryside but also by moments of celebration, was divided into three parts:

• the first part, called "the rest of the Earth", starts with S. Martin and from sowing and goes up to the pruning of the vine (winter season) and it shows in the area at the pot of S. Michele.
• the second part about "the work of awakening of nature"(Spring) and "the work of hot sun" (summer) and is shown at the picnic area in the hamlet of Noche.
• the third part describes "the cycle of harvesting and winemaking"(autumn) and is shown in the picnic area at Vascirone.

In the village centre was settled the area "of the Castle", where once stood the Castle belonged to the Scarampi del Carretto Marquises and today remains a belvedere from which you can enjoy a splendid view which encompasses a succession of hills covered by vineyards.
